Fisher-Price Makes Diapers? Fisher-Price Diaper Review

When you see the name Fisher-Price, you probably get mental images of colorful building blocks and cheerful instructions on how to recite your ABC’s. And you’d be right, but Fisher-Price has ventured out into the world of diapers and I’m so excited to review them for you. You’ve trusted this brand for decades to take care of all your children’s play needs, but can you trust them for all your diaper needs?

So, let’s start with availability. As of today, I’ve only been able to find them on Walmart and SmartCareUs online store. SmartCareUs has very limited options and the price was higher than Walmart’s. It was odd to me that I couldn’t find the diapers on Fisher Price’s own website. This line seems to be a Walmart exclusive. I also went to multiple Walmart locations alongside other stores just to make sure there weren’t any retailers carrying them and couldn’t find a physical box. This is inconvenient for me and many other parents who are familiar with the late-night diaper run to the nearest store.

Fisher-Price Diapers 411:

Fisher-Price diapers have a small range of sizes to select from. They carry size 3 to size 6. This is quite new to me, as I’m used to seeing diaper brands have sizes from Newborn all the way up to 7. The quantity each pack carries, luckily, isn’t as small of a range. They can go from 58 to 208 diapers per pack. The price you’ll pay for these packs go as low as $12.35 and as high as $29.00. This means each pack is about 12 to 13 cents per diaper. These diapers fit well into my budget as I have a limit of $30 per box. This line also has training pants which ranged from $18.11 through $28.22 per pack.

The diapers themselves seemed standard in design. 2 designs per package as usual. Each diaper has the Fisher-Price logo and a wetness indicator. On the back of the diaper, in smaller text, it says the word “Back” to let you know which side is which.

On the inside. there’s one single pad that runs from front to back. A trend I’ve noticed with size 5 and 6 diapers, is a change in the design pad. Some brands started to create three individual strips for extra leak guard protection.

How’s the stretch? The leg cuffs and side were stretchy. Not the most stretch I’ve seen in a diaper, but they were satisfactory. The back panel has the elastic to help hug your baby’s waist, which I prefer over not having them. The securing tabs also have some stretch to them as well. In their advertisements, they boasted being hypoallergenic, fragrance, and latex-free. Which I can say, my daughter did not experience any allergic reactions to or showed signs of skin sensitivity.

Pros:

These diapers are also long. Which for moms who have tall babies, I think these will work great! I’ve encountered a few issues with diapers growing in width as they size up, but not height, which leads to the diapers being too short on her. These diapers though were a sufficient length, so they covered everything well and didn’t need to be pulled up every so often. They actually follow their recommendation weights, unlike some other brands. While I’m used to sizing up, for Fisher-Price, I don’t have to!

Fisher-Price offers a money-back guarantee. If you don’t like the diapers, you’re able to get your money back! It’s easy as following the directions right on the box.

Cons:

I had a few red flag moments when I first opened the box and looked over the diapers. The sides of the diaper are made from very sheer material, leading me to believe they were prone to tearing which would of course lead to leaking. I also noted that the velcro on the tabs were not as heavy-duty and many of the brands I’m used to. I thought if my daughter made one wrong move, the diapers would pop off. Was I right? Nope!

Looks are deceiving. The straps had absolutely no issues holding onto my daughter. No slipping or falling, even though she’s a rambunctious 2-year-old. She’s rolling and climbing, running, and crawling all over the place and I never had to readjust the diaper or had a diaper break on her. They also held a lot of liquid. My daughter loves to chug her which has resulted in me now using overnight diapers. Not many diapers are able to hold her well during the night. This does not reflect the make of the diaper. My daughter is just at a new phase in her life. Although she had a few accidents at night with these diapers, I found that she had leaked a whole lot less than with other brands. So I do think they worked well overnight.

I came across was no listed ingredients. Many diaper brands are becoming more transparent with what they use to make their diapers, but not with these diapers. Nothing online or on the box. I do wish Fisher-Price would start this trend as well and begin to list ingredients somewhere for consumers to view.

In a previous review, I discovered smartlabel.com. This is a website in which lots of companies place their products and a detailed description of all ingredients used in this product. I use this for many brands and it has truly been a lifesaver! Please comment on any other websites you know that offer this feature.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I give it my approval. I do wish they would extend their sizing options to include newborn, size 1 and 2. I’d also like it if they provided these diapers in the store. However, overall, they worked well. Despite my first impressions. Very few leaks, no breaking, no rashes or discomfort on my daughter’s end, so I’m a happy mom. I’d definitely recommend you give Fisher Price diapers a shot!
